Welcome to Small Spreads!
So many times, I have had someone ask me to either put together a spread of food for them or ask me for ideas about what to serve at their party or get-together, typically for a smaller group of guests.
I’ve made spreads for many different occasions – graduation parties, bridal showers, baby showers, anniversary parties, holidays, brunch with family, get-togethers with friends, cocktail parties, or even picnics at the beach. Most of the time, I make all of the food for these gatherings myself, but sometimes I just give someone ideas about what to serve and supply them with recipes or links to recipes; some are my creations and some are recipes or ideas that I’ve found either online or in cookbooks.
Making a spread of food for large crowds can be stressful and much more time consuming. I find it much easier to make spreads for smaller crowds. I realize the word “small” can mean something different to everyone, but for me, it means about 10-12 guests, so that’s what all of my spreads are meant to serve. And with small bites and appetizers, I normally plan on guests eating at least two of each. So, some quantities may seem a little large, but I’d rather have too much food at a party than not enough.
With each spread, I’ve included a shopping list of ingredients, along with some preparation suggestions to help you put together your small spread. I really hope you enjoy what I’ve created!
